Bakelite
Thermoset laminate is a product consisting of sheets of special paper or cotton fabric that are impregnated and compressed at high pressure and high temperatures ranging from 130 to 180 ° C and pressures of 1,000 to 2,500 pounds per square inch, thus finally obtaining a solid laminate of great mechanical resistance. The resins used are phenolic in a liquid state, a varnish is used for the impregnation process, either of fabric or paper, then they are dried and cut into sections that overlap between stainless steel platens, to be pressed and obtain a sheet or plate of the desired thickness, it can be from 0.3969mm to 152.4mm, During the previous process the resin is transformed from a fusible and soluble state to a practically insoluble one.
CHARACTERISTICS:
Bakelite is a phenolic laminate, consisting of several layers of synthetic fibers that, when impregnated with thermosetting resins and subjected to high pressures and temperatures, create a hard, high-density, and resistant material.
ADVANTAGES:
- It is resistant for the manufacture of gears, impact pulleys.
- Good thermal resistance.
- It is easily machined.
APPLICATIONS:
- Bushings
- Rollers
- Gears
- Spare parts
- Parts requiring high hardness and electrical resistance. All manufacturing in general.
